To be granted citizenship in England, an applicant needs to have a grasp of the English language however it is common for them to have very little knowledge of English. It is extremely hard to integrate with the rest of society if you cannot hold a conversation with anyone outside your own circle. Why bother moving to England if you are only going to communicate with your family?
Whilst some may view this as extreme, English should be known by everyone living here no matter where they originally came from so that we can fully communicate our similarities and differences. TESOL teachers can help children and adults to get a better understanding of the English language, so that they can become a part of society and not alien to it.

To be able to work in a government funded school in the UK you will need a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).
