Cook slowly, turning often, to render out the most fat and help reduce shrinkage. Pricking with a fork will help alleviate any curling problems. Drain breakfast bacon on paper towels.

The fat rendered from the cooked bacon is highly-prized as cooking oil for its flavour. After cooking the bacon, cool the rendered oil to room temperature and then pour through a fine sieve into a glass container. Cover and store in the refrigerator or freezer for future use. If you do not need the rendered fat, let it cool to room temperature, pour into a disposable metal or glass container, seal, tie up in a plastic bag, and toss into the trash. It’s not wise to pour it down the drain, because it will coagulate and clog up the drain.

It is not necessary to buy fancy microwave bacon cookers on the market. A simple microwave is enough. In the microwave, place a microwave-safe paper towel in a micro dish large enough to fit a single layer of bacon slices (4 to 6 slices). Cover with another paper towel. Six slices should take about 4 to 5 minutes on high, depending on the wattage of your microwave and the thickness of the bacon. Start checking after the first two minutes, and continue cooking at one minute intervals until you can judge the cooking time for the way you like it. Consult your microwave manual for more specific times. A rotating base in the microwave is highly recommended for even cooking, and most come with one built in these days. Remember that foods continue to cook even after the timer goes off in a microwave, so let it rest a few minutes before you dive in to let it crisp up and avoid burns. This method reduces curling of the bacon.

Bacon can also be easily baked in the oven, resulting in amazingly flat slices. Preheat oven to 400˚F. Place a rack inside a baking sheet. Lay out slices and bake for 10-15 minutes, depending on desired doneness level. The result of this is crispy bacon with no curls. You can also use your broiler, but it is not recommended. First of all, the splatters not only make a royal mess, but also cause flares. Secondly, it requires much more attention. It is better to stick with frying, microwaving or baking.

It must have developed a scientific technique which is the result of tested experience.
It must require the expertise of discretion and judgment as to time and manner of the performance of duty. This is in contrast to the kind of work which is subject to standardization in terms of unit performance or time element.
It must have a group of conscientiousness designed to extend scientific knowledge in technical language.
It must have sufficient self-impelling power to retain members throughout life. It must not be used as a mere stepping stone to other occupations.
It must recognize its obligations to society by insisting that its members live up to an established code of ethics.

These criteria’s may just be one of the ways to understand every profession there is. But certainly these criteria’s is equally important in deciding profession a practitioner wants to practice.

We have to remember that the term “profession” is honorific and should be carried with pride and honor.

Stockholm is a city of handsome waterfronts.It is the European city of culture for 1998. It’s the home of the famous pop artist band Roxette. Swedish Equivalent to Westminster Abbey, here you can find the well known Riddarholmskyran.

To a first time visitor, Stockholm seems like two different cities: the Island city of Gamla Stan, with its intricate medieval plan, cobbled streets, and few buildings from later than the eighteenth century; and the bustling modern city of a grid-plan streets, leafy squares and smart shops.

The charms of Gamla Stan ( ‘Old Town’), on Stadholdsmen ( City Island), are self-evident. Its streets are curving, gently rising and falling; lined with tall colour-washed facades, with hardly a jarring modern note, they combine in an endlessly picturesque townscape, and there are always attractive details of carved stone or twirly metalwork to look out for. This is where you will find the enormous Royal Palace-externally severe, internally sumptuous , with enough rooms, set enfilade, to induce a serious attack of Palace Foot. Hard by is the Cathedral ( or Storkyrkan), whose medieval interior is dominated by a pair of theatrically canopied royal pews, all baroque draperies and tassels.

The most memorable object, however must be the life-size statuary group of St George and the Dragon, surely one of the spectacular examples of late-medieval art in Europe-the dashing and unperturbed prince in shining armour tramples underfoot a truly gruesome dragon, bristling with ferocious spikes ( actually made by incorporating real elk antlers); a demure princess kneels nearby, patiently awaiting rescue.

The attractions of the modern city on the ‘mainland’ to the north and south may be less obvious but they are certainly worth looking for. To begin with, there is a fine sense of space generated by the wide, tree-lined streets and the fingers of water reaching in from the harbor.

Water is central to memories of Stockholm city- it is located strategically at a point where the Baltic stretches deep inland to meet the enormous island-strewn Lake Malaren in a narrow channel. In the centre of the channel sits Gamla Stan, encircled by the former mansions of aristocrats and merchants, with another splendid waterfront running east along the shore from the Drama theatre known as the Dramatren, bristling with nineteenth-century turrets, tourelles and domes.

Rising up the slopes behind is the fashionable quarter of Ostermalm, with a wealth of turn-of-the-century buildings in almost every imaginable style- Gothic, Renaissance, Venetian, Romanesque, Baroque, Art Nouveau.

Stockholm’s winter is by English standards long and intense, but summers can be surprisingly warm and reliable and, in June and July, nights are very short. The city is perhaps avoided during the annual Water Festival when it seethes with people, and noisy festivities are likely to disturb your sleep if you are staying centrally.

Virtually every building hereabouts, even mundane apartment blocks, seems to be enlivened by touches of individuality, especially encrustations of deliquescent carving. It would be better to time your exploration for mid-morning so that the lunchtime finds you at the jolly neo-Romanesque Saluhall, or covered market. Inside are food stalls interspersed with little cafes producing delicious Scandinavian dishes, made from the freshest ingredients.

Swedish cuisine can be delicious and various, featuring wide array of fishes ( both marine and freshwater) and beef, with herrings prepared in various ways, of course.

In the summer, menus are likely to include wonderful tarts , ice creams and berries, including cloudberries from the boggy, mosquito infested far north. Wine in this city is fearfully pricey. It is also possible to eat well on board as you cruise more extensively around the Stockholm archipelago.
